SheWolf is participating in National Water Dance 2020!
We are dancers from 38 states, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico, and on April 18th at 4PM EST we are joining together in a simultaneous dance performance at water sites in our (respective) local areas! The theme of National Water Dance this year is “dancing for our lives, reimagining our future” as we turn our attention and intention toward climate change and our responsibility to stop harming our planet.
Dancers are embodying the collective spirit of our movement by weaving into their own choreography a shared movement phrase at the beginning and end of their unique dance. With shared movement performers are drawing together threads from throughout our nation, symbolically expressing our connection to one another and the planet. You can attend a local performance in person or watch online as we will be streaming live from all locations (currently 90+ and counting!).
National Water Dance (NWD), created and directed by Dale Andree, is an artist driven collective of dancers and educators stretching from coast to coast and from Alaska to Florida. NWD creates simultaneous, site-specific performances with movers of all ages and experience, bringing attention to the pressing issues of water in the United States. National Water Dance believes that our environment is the most pressing issue of this generation and that artists need to take the lead in addressing it. As dancers we want to use our bodies to create a community that cries out for action.
